The name means “lotus pond.” Beng Mealea is a Hindu temple featuring the same layout as the larger Angkor Wat. It’s central tower and much of the surrounding walls have been reclaimed by the jungle. These local girls approached me asking if I liked to climb… I was treated to a personal tour of the temple involving scrambling over wobbly lintels and climbing fallen stones.
